Players take control of a collection of fictional kids and pint-sized versions of real-life NFL players like Adrian Peterson, Eli Manning, and Maurice Jones-Drew. Even though the players look like children, the action is straight out of the NFL with realistic strategies and playbooks. Backyard Football also features power-ups, custom teams, and unlockable items designed to give the game an arcade feel. The game features "Single Player," "Season," "Tournament," and "All Pro" modes, along with the multiplayer modes of co-op play and two-on-two contests.[1]
The game received mixed reviews for the Xbox 360 and Wii versions, but negative reviews for the PS2 version.[2][3][4] For the Wii version, Da Gameboyz stated "With mediocre graphics and silly sound, it really doesn't hold up when compared to any other versions on competing consoles aside from some token but fun motion controls".[5] For the Xbox 360 version, ZTGameDomain said that the game is "simple, easy to pick up and really well designed".[6]
